Abstract
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the agronomic and productive behavior of the forage plant mulberry (Morus alba) at three cutting ages (50, 60, 70), the work was carried out at the Mishilí farm belonging to the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Tsa'chila in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador, For this study the experimental design applied was DBCA (completely randomized block design), with three treatments and seven replications giving a total of 16 experimental units, each experimental unit was determined by a useful area of 4 m2, the ages of cut applied were 50, 60, 70 days. Among the variables studied were: plant length, stem diameter, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves and crude protein. T3 (70 days of cutting age) was the one that showed the best results in the variables of agronomic and productive behavior having the following results: plant length with a value of 168 cm, number of leaves 54.14 leaves/plant, stem diameter 15.29 mm, leaf width 14.71 cm, leaf length 20.14 cm, PROD (T ha-1 MS-1) obtained a total of the three treatments of 74.97 kg. And in crude protein, the best result was obtained in T1 with 22.17%. Therefore, it is proven that, in terms of nutritional quality of the forage species, T3 (90 days of cutting age) is the ideal and optimal for the cultivation of mulberry (Morus alba).
