Abstract

This study comprehensively analyzes the scientific production of teaching staff in higher education, using a mixed approach with quantitative and qualitative techniques. A bibliometric analysis of publications was carried out, revealing significant but uneven growth across disciplines. Surveys and interviews revealed challenges such as lack of time, funding, resources, and institutional support. However, great interest and motivation for research was observed. Experts suggested reforming evaluation systems, promoting collaboration, investing in infrastructure, and strengthening linkages with the productive sector. It is concluded that addressing these challenges is crucial to fostering a culture of excellence in academic research and its impact on sustainable development.
