Abstract

This article presents a systematic review on the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in teacher training, aiming to explore in depth its impact, benefits, and challenges. Using a qualitative and exploratory approach, recent studies published in recognized academic databases such as Scopus, SciELO, and Redalyc were selected and analyzed, ensuring the relevance and currency of the information. The findings indicate a growing adoption of ICT in teacher training, highlighting the development of essential digital competencies and the personalization of learning. ICT facilitates the implementation of innovative, student-centered pedagogical methodologies, promoting more autonomous and collaborative learning. However, significant challenges were identified, such as the digital divide, resistance to change by some educators, and the need for ongoing technological training. The research underscores the need for inclusive educational policies and continuous professional development programs to overcome these barriers and ensure the effective implementation of ICT. In the long term, ICT has the potential to transform education, fostering a more collaborative and personalized approach that prepares teachers and students for the challenges of an increasingly digitalized society.
