Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence in university management represents a transformative challenge for higher education institutions in Latin America. This research analyzes the impact of implementing artificial intelligence systems in university governance, emphasizing academic and administrative management. Through a mixed methodological approach with quantitative predominance, a twelve-month longitudinal study was conducted in Latin American institutions that have implemented artificial intelligence systems. Results reveal significant improvements in administrative efficiency, reduction in operational costs, and resource optimization. User satisfaction showed substantial increase, supported by continuous training programs. Critical success factors identified include sustained executive support, progressive adaptation of technological infrastructure, and staff training. Significant challenges were identified in legacy system integration and data quality. The research demonstrates that effective implementation of artificial intelligence requires a systematic approach combining technological development with organizational change management, contributing significantly to the modernization of university management in the Latin American context.
