Abstract

This scientific article presents a comparison of energy consumption between a diesel burner and a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) burner. The objective of the study is to determine which of the two fuels is more efficient in terms of energy consumption. An investigation was carried out using a mixed methodology that combined the collection of theoretical data and the performance of experimental tests. The energy consumption levels of diesel and LPG burners were measured and compared under controlled conditions. The results indicated significant differences in energy expenditure between the two types of burners. The information obtained through this study can be useful for decision making in the selection of fuels in industrial and commercial applications. In industries, the main problem when choosing a burner is the advantages and disadvantages of choosing each one of them for the simple reason that you cannot buy different burners so that in the end you only reach the conclusion of only using one becoming a great loss for the industrial company, so this article aims to resolve doubts regarding the choice between two types of burners by performing corresponding stoichiometric analyzes as well as the comparison of the flame temperature, the diameter of the fuel injector and also the heat transfer from the diesel and LPG burners taking into account both characteristics in terms of operation, possibility and the frequency with which accidents can happen both inside and outside the industry without forget beforehand the values in which they are going to work, such as at an ambient temperature of 25° C and at a power of 35 to 36 kW.
